What’s it like owning your own dollhouse store?
May 9th, 2012For many dollhouse enthusiasts, owning a dollhouse store would be a dream come true, the chance to make a living working with what one loves most. But what would it really be like?
Maria Fowler, who has run the Little Dollhouse Company in Toronto for the last twelve years, told her local newspaper, My Town Crier:
“If I wanted to do real business I really wouldn’t be doing this. Our return on investment is really crappy. Our turnover is crappy … but it’s certainly a very, very fun business that supports my husband and I and our kids, this is all we do, and our employees so it’s a great kind of lifestyle.”
And the best part of the job? Maria says it’s working for herself and getting to be a kid all the time. She also hopes that one day her own kids will take over the business.
So the next time you dream of owning your own dollhouse store, remember you won’t ever make a fortune but you could have lots of fun in store.
